I am a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine based at the International Centre for Neurorehabilitation and Neuropsychiatry at Walkergate Park in Newcastle, and also Consultant in Major Trauma Rehabilitation at the RVI.

I am Northern Region Major Trauma Network Rehabilitation Director and sit on the national British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine RCP Joint Specialities Committee and Trauma Rehabilitation Special Interest Group.

My clinical work includes the assessment and rehabilitation care of patients with acquired brain injury and chronic neurological conditions, including those with prolonged disorders of consciousness and complex cognitive disorders. Working with the multi-disciplinary teams, my work focuses on return to home and full social and vocational functioning for patients suffering from a range of conditions including head and spinal injury, neuropathies, MS and vascular disorders.

Trauma rehabilitation is a developing area nationally following the Major Trauma Systems process and this work includes assessment and management of complex musculoskeletal and true poly-trauma. My research interests include neuro-cardiovascular, balance and vestibular disorders after brain injury, neurogenic bladder dysfunction and complex cerebral imaging after traumatic brain injury.

As well as work, I also enjoy walking and nature watching and messing about in boats.
