Catering staff at a Newcastle Hospital are supporting the Metro Radio Cash for Kids charity this Christmas.
Staff in the Catering department, NTW Solutions, part of Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW), a provider of mental health and disability services have been busy collecting toys and games to help those children who are going to wake up to no presents on Christmas morning.
In the UK, one in four children are living in poverty and it is reported that 47,500 children could wake up on Christmas morning with no presents.
As well as donating toys and games, staff have been donating cash to help those who are less privileged.
This is the second year we have done this. Thank you to all the team who have donated. We decided to give to the Metro Radio charity instead of doing a secret Santa; it’s heart-warming to see everyone’s kindness.
At this time of year when we are all enjoying ourselves, it’s good to think that we have done something to make a child’s life seem brighter even for a short time
