Cuthbert Ward is part of Bamburgh Clinic, a multi-award winning purpose built acute admission facility for men who have a mental health disorder and who have come into contact with the Criminal Justice System. The Unit offers four wards, Aidan, Cuthbert, Cuthbert Annexe and Oswin. Cuthbert Ward is a 15 bedded unit providing a medium secure assessment, treatment and rehabilitation service.
Cuthbert Ward is for men aged 18 years and over who have either had contact with the Criminal Justice System or whose behaviour in mental health settings is such to require management in a specialist forensic service.
You can be referred to Cuthbert Ward through a specialist mental health service or through prison.

This leaflet is about Cuthbert Ward which is the rehabilitation ward in the Bamburgh Clinic at St. Nicholas Hospital Gosforth Newcastle upon Tyne. Cuthbert Ward provides assessment and rehabilitation treatment for people with mental health problems within a secure setting. There is 15 beds for men who may have come into contact with the law, and/or are thought to be a risk to others or themselves.
