Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (or ME)

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is an onset of unexplained, persistent fatigue unrelated to exertion and not substantially relieved by rest that causes a significant reduction in previous activity levels.

Initial intervention from other Tier 1/2 services (Universal and Targeted services) prior to specialist CAMHS involvement

All suspected cases of CSF initially to be referred to General Paediatrics for medical physical assessment.

For treatment of a coexisting mental health difficulty it may be necessary for a minimal level of functioning to be established before the young person has capacity to engage in an additional psychological intervention.
