Emerging Borderline Personality Disorder

Borderline personality disorder is not diagnosed before the age of 18yrs and is characterised by emotional dysregulation, significant instability of interpersonal relationships, self-image and mood, and impulsive behaviour.

Initial intervention from other Tier 1/2 services (Universal and Targeted services) prior to specialist CAMHS involvement

Service provided by Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service – Tier 3

Assessment and treatment of co-morbid disorders will be undertaken by Specialist CAMHS. In addition to which a young person may be offered Decider Skills or Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
