Preceptorship
Preceptorship in CNTW is 12 months long from the date of receiving professional registration.
The first six months of a preceptorship is spent completing ‘Part A’ competencies, a portfolio of evidence and an assignment relevant to professional discipline, with six interdisciplinary study days. Preceptees then choose a clinical specialism to focus on for the final six months of ‘Part B’ units 1-3, which involves a week of clinical teaching, action plans to apply teaching to practice, completion of competencies related to specialism, and a final assignment linked to the learning, practical application and development of therapeutic rapport.
Practice Supervisor/Assessor training is built into the programme, so preceptees have an opportunity to support students as they progress through preceptorship. Peer support, pastoral support, clinical support and academic tutorials are available to all preceptees throughout the programme.
